Where Are Chevrolets Made?
Chevrolet is an American brand with a global manufacturing network. Where a Chevy is assembled depends on the model, model year and individual vehicle.
The short answer
Chevrolets sold in the United States are assembled in several countries, including the United States, Mexico and South Korea. Colorado, Tahoe, Suburban and Corvette are examples of U.S.-assembled models. Silverado 1500 production includes U.S. and Mexican plants, so confirm the assembly location of the specific truck.
Where are Chevy trucks, SUVs and sports cars assembled?
Use this guide as a starting point for recent U.S.-market models. Production assignments can change. The final assembly information for a specific vehicle takes priority over a general model guide.
| Chevrolet model | Assembly country | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Silverado 1500 | United States and Mexico | Fort Wayne, Indiana, is one production location. Other plants and availability vary by configuration and model year; check the individual truck. |
| Colorado | United States | Wentzville, Missouri |
| Tahoe and Suburban | United States | Arlington, Texas |
| Corvette | United States | Bowling Green, Kentucky |
| Silverado EV | United States | Factory ZERO in Detroit and Hamtramck, Michigan |
| Equinox EV and Blazer EV | Mexico | Ramos Arizpe; these are separate vehicles from the gasoline Equinox and Blazer. |
| Trax and Trailblazer | South Korea | GM Korean Operations; verify final assembly for the model year and VIN you are shopping. |
Are all Chevy trucks made in America?
No. Chevrolet builds trucks in the United States and elsewhere. A Silverado 1500 badge alone does not identify its assembly country. Cab, equipment, production timing and model year can affect which plant builds a truck.
The Colorado is assembled at Wentzville, while the Silverado EV is produced at Factory ZERO. Those production assignments do not mean every component is U.S.-made. Final assembly and parts sourcing are different questions.
Where are the Equinox EV and Blazer EV made?
GM has produced the Equinox EV and Blazer EV at Ramos Arizpe in Mexico. Do not apply that information automatically to the gasoline Equinox or Blazer. They have separate production plans, including announced U.S. production changes for 2027.
When comparing new and used SUVs, match the assembly information to the exact model and model year.
How to check where your Chevrolet was built
Start with the vehicle identification number, or VIN. Compare the VIN on the vehicle with its window sticker and sales paperwork. The new-vehicle parts-content label identifies final assembly location; the window sticker may also provide plant information.
- Choose the exact vehicle you want to inspect.
- Ask for its original window sticker or available factory documentation.
- Review the listed final assembly point and parts-content information.
- Ask our team to help resolve any questions before you buy.
An assembly location tells you where the vehicle came together. It does not tell you the origin of every engine, transmission, battery or other component.
