The Headline
A Ground-Up Redesign of America's Truck
The 2027 Silverado 1500 is an all-new, next-generation truck — not a refresh. Chevrolet revealed it in June 2026 as an early first look, redesigned inside and out with new or improved engines, a reworked trim structure and a fully digital interior. It's the best-selling nameplate for Chevrolet and all of GM, and it's getting its biggest update in years.
The short version: Two all-new Gen 6 Small Block V8s (a 5.7L and a 6.6L) join an enhanced 2.7L TurboMax and the segment-exclusive 3.0L Duramax diesel. The lineup grows to seven trims — including three factory-lifted off-roaders — with a standard 16.3-inch screen across the board and available Super Cruise hands-free towing. Production is expected to start late 2026, with pricing announced closer to launch.

Four Powertrains, Led by Two All-New V8s
The big story is the return to larger-displacement V8s. The new 5.7L and 6.6L Gen 6 Small Blocks replace the outgoing 5.3L and 6.2L V8s, building on the same engine family as the latest Corvette. The proven 2.7L TurboMax and 3.0L Duramax diesel carry over — now with the TurboMax paired to a 10-speed automatic for the first time.

*Per Chevrolet, "the most powerful naturally-aspirated V8 in its class." Official horsepower and torque have not been released. Industry outlets expect roughly 400 hp from the 5.7L and 475–500 hp from the 6.6L, but these estimates are unofficial until Chevrolet confirms figures later in 2026.

It also gets a dedicated off-road hood, Torch Red interior accents and a first-ever use of real forged carbon-fiber trim on a ZR2. An available ZR2 Bison Edition adds AEV bumpers, 18-inch beadlock-capable wheels and extra skid plates.
